What is Naked Girls Read­ing?
Naked Girls Read­ing is a nude lit­er­ary salon that takes place in twenty cities around the world and on five dif­fer­ent con­ti­nents. At each event, a small cast of beau­ti­ful ladies removes their cloth­ing (yes, all of it) and reads per­sonal selec­tions to an ador­ing audi­ence. It is enter­tain­ing, mag­i­cal, often funny, some­times heart wrench­ing and really very sexy.

Are the girls really naked?
Yes, we are.

Is the audi­ence naked?
No, they are not.

There’s some­thing beau­ti­ful, some­thing alto­gether more inti­mate, about a woman read­ing in the nude. It’s just that sim­ple.

Naked Girls Read­ing, called “appro­pri­ately racy” by Enter­tain­ment Weekly and “the best thing to hap­pen to books since they were put on tape…” by Car­son Daly, was founded in Chicago in March of 2009 by Inter­na­tional Show­girl Michelle L’Amour and hus­band Franky Vivid.

Thoroughly enjoyed the show & something completely different- was extremely well presented I love that this venue, although small, is able to host quite a variety of shows.

It was great to see female bodies exposed and reading queer literature! What would have been greater was if it was slightly more choreographed, so that the woman reading becomes the focus and is perhaps a bit more expressive? That said, whatever it lacked in performance it made up for in political power!

Being a male and a heterosexual I really enjoyed it. It was a very good way of celebrating the female form with literature. The last time I saw something similar was in Holland where they had-NAKED POETRY. This was during the Apartheid days. This is why I appreciate the democracy we have and it's freedoms. If you intend having more of these literary events in future where the female form is to be celebrated. Please consider poetry from various poets, both past and present., male and female. The actors or presenters should also walk around on stage and not only sit all the time. Some similar future stage events should also include consider how women feel about politics and philosophy while in the change and dressing rooms with other women talking about these ideas while naked. This would note only celebrate the female form but make males appreciate women more by understanding them and not slotting them into a little box. The female form is beautiful and should be celebrated with poetic verse, philosophy and politics both past and present, South African and foreign. VERY GOOD!!

Queerly Beloved theme made for excellent serious and funny pieces. Also a nice feeling to spend an evening with an animated group of young gay women, who were clearly enjoying themselves. I love the vibe at the bar too. Please don't quote!
