It was two years ago that Nicholas and Edward realised their ambition of owning a theatre. They got in Jon to climb through the crawl spaces and hang lights and deal with emailing performers and musicians, and together they set about making the smallest theatre in Cape Town a reality. It was a pretty crazy idea. But performers and musicians bought into it. Journalists bought into it. Audiences bought into it. Alexander Upstairs has been going for two years. Come celebrate. For our two year anniversary we're going to celebrate in style with wine and snacks and some guest performances. We'll also be recognising the performers and productions that have made our life so far so exciting and wonderful. Maybe with stickers.

Income from the ticket sales will go our I Make Theatre Happen fund, our next crazy idea which will be launched at the celebration.

We just loved it! And Stuart's magic show was, well, magic! And the attitude I have to magic is much the same as I have to theatre. I don't know - and don't want to know - how they do it. I just want to be enchanted, amused, entertained, bemused by the abilities and talent of the performers. Theatre suspends real life and becomes as world within a world.
