This is a story takes place in the space between hope and despair, between justice and forgiveness, and between guilt and courage. Bandile has been broken both body and soul after his mother is killed at the hands of a vigilante mob. As he tries to find a path through his pain and regain trust of his family, he must also convince the world that he has changed. But has he?

After a successful run at Zabalaza Community Festival, INGCWABA went on to win the inaugural Abongile Kroza One-Hander Festival at Makukhanye Art Room in 2017 and continued to dazzle Mbekweni audiences throughout 2018.

Audience Responses

Poor understanding due to isiXhosa

Very disappointing that the actor was so late because it threw him completely and he made several blatant, silly mistakes throughout. At some point, the timeline didn't quite make sense, and the rhetoric about 'innocent men accused of rape' is tired and even violent. "How can I rape my own girlfriend?" Seriously? Not an altogether fresh perspective either--makes the lives of township subjects definitively precarious. I think we are more than that. He was very good at switching between characters though.

A beautiful script, and high energy from the performer. Definitely would love to see the show again after more development of the actor.
