What is Naked Girls Reading?

Naked Girls Reading is a nude literary salon that takes place in twenty cities around the world and on five different continents
At each event, a small cast of beautiful ladies removes their clothing (yes, all of it) and reads personal selections to an adoring audience. It is entertaining, magical, often funny, sometimes heart wrenching and really very sexy.

Are the girls really naked?
Yes, we are.

Is the audience naked?
No, they are not.

There’s something beautiful, something altogether more intimate, about a woman reading in the nude. It’s just that simple.

Naked Girls Reading, called “appropriately racy” by Entertainment Weekly and “the best thing to happen to books since they were put on tape…” by Carson Daly, was founded in Chicago in March of 2009 by International Showgirl Michelle L’Amour and husband Franky Vivid.

Audience Responses

Really enjoyed the show. All the ladies showed exceptional pride in their bodies, which made them exude tons of sex appeal and beauty. The literature was well chosen and each piece read with almost perfect articulation and intonation. Definitely a great platform for promoting the sexiness of literature while at the same time changing ideas about nudity, sexuality, and the unrealistic body images that contemporary society is incessantly being bombarded with via mass media. In a nutshell the show was Sexy, Fun, and Positive. (I'm an Aries male by the way ;p)

I attended the event mainly to support a friend of mine, who was performing. It was my first time at Alexander Bar and Cafe. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole atmosphere of the bar. The actual bar itself is lathered in throwbacks to older eras, and has an exceptionally cozy atmosphere, that is both inviting and feels like home. The actual room upstairs where the show was held was moreso exceptional. The room was small and intimate. I was truthfully expecting a bigger venue, and was quite amazed when I saw for the first time just how small it was. I thought the size of the room, which limited the size of the audience, was very fitting for this particular performance, and to some extent, certainly enhanced my experience. The show itself was equally wonderful and enjoyable. The performances were thought provoking, the women beautiful, the humour satisfying, and the atmosphere apt. I thought some of the readings fell slightly short, in particular the last reading, which I felt was somewhat drawn out and less captivating and enthralling, compared to some others, but overall, they all worked together and was well worth the time it took to watch the performance. Just to mention it, I think the idea of 'Naked Men Reading' is also quite something, and I would gladly watch that as well. I appreciate all the hard work put in by the producers and directors and performers for making a wonderful event, and for hosting it at an equally wonderful venue. All in all, I had a really great time. Thank you!
