New York Innovative Theater Award-winning solo artist Andrea Caban returns to Cape Town for two performances of Questions My Mother Can’t Answer. That the one person we expected to know everything, to fix everything and to be everything is not a mythic superbeing becomes clearer and clearer throughout our lifetime. Caban deals with this truth and her own personal journey in QMMCA. After she was hit by a New York cab, Caban embarked on a vision quest, seeking answers about life from a “donations only” prostitute, a Moroccan dancer and her own aunt — whom she portrays as interviewees onstage. The writer/actor’s characters are the result of stories collected in interviews with actual women, and they touch on the travails of living in a man’s world.
