Valencia is the Donald Trump of coloured female constables - totally unapologetic in her campaign to take back Bellville from “Klein Somalia” and “make it great again”. Her greatest fear is that her community is becoming overrun with prostitutes and Boko Haram, curtain-wearing terrorists. She speaks the prejudices that many silently harbour with grotesque zeal and bombastic charisma.

Through cutting satire, Faith Kinniar plunges a skewer into the heart of a bigot with verbal diarrhea.

In 2016 Faith Kinniar made her professional debut with a 20 minute version of 'Valencia' at the first KKNK Uitkampteater for which she received the KykNet Fiesta award for best emerging artist.

She grew up and was born in Bellville South. She attended the University of Stellenbosch as a Drama student. In her time at Stellenbosch she underwent a socio-political awakening which led her to seek out art forms that combine comedy with social commentary. In 2013 she specialized in cabaret under mentors Marthinus Basson and Grethe van der Merwe, who introduced her to the form and style of German kabarett, which is a form of cabaret more concerned with commentary than entertainment and was used to criticize the Nazi regime. Her play 'Syria?' also debuted in 2016 at Artscape’s New Voices season and was directed by Quanita Adams, it later received a Standard Bank Ovation Award at NAF 2017. In 2014 she collaborated with poets Adrian van Wyk, Rimestein, Jethro Louw and the visual artists at Burning Museum on  the project 'Manufractured', a commemorative performance/exhibition in honour of the return of the late Nat Nakasa’s remains to South Africa. She has also showcased her works at poetry platforms such as 'Inzync Poetry Sessions' and 'Rioters in Session'. Her work challenges prejudiced rhetoric such as xenophobia and Islamophobia.

Striking and very interesting. Well Done to the actress. She is a young, brave & independent thinker. If she hadn't done the 18 year cameo second from the end, i was beginning to wonder if she doesn't have problems with this convincing piece hitting the airways! My niece from Durban absolutely loved it & wanted to congratulate her after the show but sadly we didn't see the actress again after the performance.

I'm sure we'd have given a 5 if we could have followed it all! Her initial delivery in her Cape English was just too fast and loud to tune into, but we got there eventually. ('We' being 3 English senior citizens, but we have lived in SA for 50 years) Very clever and talented, great acting and singing. We'll look out for Faith in the future.
