NYC Singer-Songwriter Bonomo performs songs from his latest album 'Phases' and features selections from his upcoming release along with multi-disciplinarian Abraham Mennen!

Bonomo is a New York based band on a mission to unify musical traditions and audiences alike. Formed by singer/songwriter Adam Bonomo, Bonomo’s music is transcendent, develops our conscience, and wakes us up – we are left with our interests peaked, curiosity ignited, and ears fulfilled. Bonomo checks the history of music and makes it fresh and innovative: everything a new band should be.

Born and raised in Jupiter, fl, Adam relocated to New York in 2015 to follow his passions. growing up in a family of musicians Adam nourished a deep love of jazz and the visionaries that had been born out of such disciplines. fusing influences from gospel, folk, jazz, and classical music, the members of Bonomo are a family.

Bonomo has won spots in the top 5 at the indie international songwriting competition, the top 3 at the new song music competition, third place in the Nashville film festival, and first place in the CASC songwriting competition.

Their first album, Phases, was released on February 19, 2017, live at Joe’s pub in New York city. Their next project, a series of four singles, is set to be released in 2018.

Abraham Mennen is a South African saxophonist, improvisor, composer and multi-discipline artist living between New York and Cape Town. He mostly plays jazz, improvised and experimental music. Abraham has worked with Louis Moholo, William Parker, Oliver Lake, Joe Morris, John Lockwood, Herbie Tsoaeli, Kesivan Naidoo, Hamid Drake, Kidd Jordan, Cooper-Moore, Shabaka Hutchins and many others. He has recorded with William Parker and is an active member of several of his ensembles. 

He has enjoyed a varied musical career thus far. As a classical soloist, he won gold medal at the ATKV Muziq 2011, Overall Winner at the Wakkerstroom Music Festival 2012 and performed concertos with the London Contemporary Orchestra, The Royal College of Music Chamber Orchestra, the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra and the KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic. Other areas of music include performing with conceptual performance outfit The Brother Moves On, being musical director of the Korean music group Hapum Haneun Hama, saxophonist in the psychotropical punk band Escarioka Crew, building and curating his own sound installations, and composing and recording for animations, short films and advertising. He is an alumni of the Royal College of Music, London and the New England Conservatory, Boston.

Abraham is currently living and performing in Cape Town, South Africa. He is a founding member and the musical curator for the intersectional creative space The Interim.
