“Any form of art is a form of power, it has impact, it can affect change – it can not only move us, it makes us move” – Ossie Davis

Matters of The Art is a showcase of the Cape Town’s Arts collective of comedians, poets and musicians all performing with the goal to raise funds that will help support adult & youth development in the city and ultimately leave a legacy for the future of our country.

The theme of the show is Leave a Legacy and there are only two simple rules to play by:
1. That everyone brings a cheerful heart
2. Contributes to [literally] leaving a legacy by leaving behind a donation(s) that will someway help elevate local communities (e.g. clothing, non-perishables, toiletries, stationary, books etc.).

The Audience can expect a fun-filled evening with performances from Cape Town’s most astounding comedians, poets and musicians. The line-up includes the amazing Roché Kester, founder of Grounding Sessions Poetry, Kagiso KG Mokgadi, 2017 Comics’ Choice Awards nominee in the Best Comic category, and Tumelo TT, The brainchild of Matters of The Art initiative.

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others." - Nelson Mandela

The three wonderful beneficiaries that we will help support and empower are:

1. The Haven Night Shelter - Kensington (a night and rehabilitation center which supports, develops and empowers adults on the streets of Kensington dedicated to the goal of helping them go back home and rebuild their lives).

2. InkamvaYouth - Gugulethu (a tutoring and mentorship program for high school learners - providing learners with the right tools, guidance and support to improve matric marks and over the long term, to be better equipped to thrive in both the community and society at large).

3. BOSASA Youth Development Center - Eersterivier (a center developed for helping troubled youth by supporting them through education and guidance, empowering them with the necessitated skills to make a positive contribution in society).
