Live Nude Literary Salon • Running Time: 70 mins
Produced by POPArt Production and Naked Girls Reading Johannesburg | Directed by Alicia Skead | Featuring readers from Naked Girls Reading Cape Town and Naked Girls Reading Johannesburg

Join us for "Johannesburg comes to Cape Town edition" of NAKED GIRLS READING: A wondrously nude celebration of stories that has been described as the most provocative literary series in the world.

For our Cape Town season, which is part of the POPupstairs season, we will be celebrating African authors and stories under the theme "I am African, therefore I am".

With readings that include writers Ameera Patel and CA Davids (both of whom are part of the production team for BLACK, playing as part of the POPUpstairs season), Rebecca Davis, Phillipa Yaa De Villiers and more...

There is something altogether more intimate about a woman reading in the nude. Let these thrilling and eccentric ladies mesmerise you with their tales from a range of novels, short stories and modern fiction and allow you to witness the delight and splendour of women who like to read… naked.

What is Naked Girls Reading?
At each event, a small cast of beautiful ladies remove their clothing (yes, all of it) and read to
an adoring audience.

Are the girls really naked?
Yes, we are.

Is the audience naked?
No they are not.

Do the girls read to themselves or out loud?
We read out loud to the audience. It is entertaining, magical, often funny, sometimes heart-wrenching and really very sexy.

7, 8, 9 December at 7pm at the Alexander Bar
Tickets are R 120.

Ms Lola Banks
Making her return to the stage, she is no longer new to the naked scene. Reading since before she could talk, she enjoys a well written fantasy, but has no patience for teen adventures or stories that feature vampires. Especially not sparkly ones. Her bookshelf is littered with well researched and lyrical biographies of actors, statement and whores. She still spends most of her time staring at her pug.

 Ms Penny Wise
Caught up in an endless cycle of sentences and journeys of the imagination, Ms Penny Wise strives to get people to reignite their passion for reading. A world-travelling tailoress with a voracious appetite for words and voyages across the sky, Penny Wise is an actress, an entrepreneur, a jester and a dance floor demon. She navigates with her heart but also uses a finely tuned bullshit detector as her compass.
