OMG Quiz Night has crash landed their trivia machine right into the belly of Alexander Bar. Every Wednesday the cosy chairs and tables of the bar get turned into your throne from which you will enter into a battle of the minds. But don't start googling general knowledge trivia answers just yet.... Among the 'what is the capital of...' this quiz has a plethora of hands-on, get-your-tastebuds-guessing, blind-fold-necessary questions. This is not just any games night, this is OMG QUIZ NIGHT AT ALEXANDER BAR. Minimum of 1 person per team (note: your name will automatically be entered as Han Solo) up to 6 players in a team. The game starts at 7:30pm sharp and finishes at 9:30pm. Please be aware that portions of the quiz will be filmed for use on Channel24.

Brilliant fun. The only drawback of the whole evening was once again our food, although delicious, was lukewarm and in one case - cold! We were a big table of 12 but last time I ate at the AB we were only 4 and our food was cold. Regards Viv

Quiz was fun, but seriously overpriced, and the prizes didn't really justify the entry fee. Compared to other quizzes, it wasn't great value for money, and I'm unlikely to go again.

Such fun! Questions just challenging enough to give your brain a workout, but not so over-the-top ridiculous that you spend the evening saying Huh and WTF?! Loved the vibe between the quizmaster and the audience.

Show started too late, especially since we got there early as requested. Too much waiting and only finished at 10pm. Would prefer format to be more efficient. But otherwise, great venue and ambience.

I forgot to say that I went up to her to give her our feedback and she did apologise and say that it was very noisy. However a while ago we had been to a show when a quiz was taking place and I recall noting that she was extremely difficult to understand..... Ruth

A fun evening which worked well. Audio not optimal - too loud and distorted... Getting balance of persons in the pub is hard so the mingling of guests coming to attend the theatre with the pub quiz did not really work well.

Would have been nice if there were a few more teams, but was a fun well organized evening

As I’m hard of hearing, it gets very difficult to hear music clues with any definition, as well as conversation on the table. Quit master is wonderful, always great fun, very much enjoyed, once a month.

Was good fun but we didn't realise we had to book in our teams, so some of us booked separately and there was a bit of confusion. Also the gaps between rounds were very long. Still fun though :)

Quiz Night was great fun as always! I think the bar was a bit understaffed last night and we had to wait quite a bit for drinks and food. The quiz master seemed to be substituting for someone? He was not super well prepared... Our team felt that we had questions for him around some of the answers that were not given a proper response. And he omitted one bonus round, unless we just completely did not hear him say that at our end of the bar... But all in all, was fun! Thanks!

Would be nice to have a bit more variation in questions - one of the other tables claimed that most of the questions were the same (either as last time or one of the other pub quizzes)

It was nice and intimate! Love the fact that there aren't too many teams like at other quiz nights. In general, the experience was super enjoyable and I'll definitely go back! One minor issue, however, was that there was a small group of people sitting near us (not participating in the quiz) that was quite noisy, so sometimes it was difficult to hear the questions. Perhaps people not doing the quiz should just sit a bit farther away from those participating in the quiz.

Quiz night was a great experience for us even though we were a bit late. We were really pushed to the limits with unexpected questions popping up. It served for serious guessing work and activating the dormant grey matter. We lost the game but we were "punished" with Fireball shots - which we welcomed in the cold weather!

We had great fun. However, the food was bordering on inedible. Most of the table ordered the aubergine bake and one had the lasagna.

We have a great time - some of the questions however did have more than one possible answer - so you should check that when scoring. It would have also been great to be able to see the person asking questions - we were sitting in the alcove on the left after you enter the building and I felt a bit far away and it didn't feel like there were other teams besides our 3 teams part of a group. This was ridiculous fun... and a good mix of challenging and achievable (so we felt pretty good for doing well because it wasn't easy, and not like massive idiots because there were actually questions we knew the answers to!)

We really enjoyed ourselves. The Alex is a great spot, our guests were newbies and picked up event calendars, I think you have converts and we are booking for three weeks time. The lady who ran the quiz was great. I’m hard of hearing so background music doesn’t help, however, the other 5 sets of ears could translate the muffle for me!

Had a blast. It was a good length , the questions were challenging and the music was great. We'll ll be back.

It was lots of fun although some of the questions were really arbitrary. I liked the wine tasting part - it adds a interesting change to the normal type of pub quizs.

4 We enjoyed it very much, but missed some fun or fiddly questions or brainteasers as we had the impression from the webpage. At the end it was all general knowledge and no brain-twisters which we had welcomed in between to also involve a younger generation (18+) who is not so sophisticated yet. :-) Best regards Ines

As ever, great fun. Quizmaster is a doll, questions are really varied, just disappointing that there were only four teams, loses some of the vibe.

We love the Quiz Nights. It offers a great mid-week break to get my drunk on, like a mini-weekend tucked away in the clusterfuck of otherwise suicide-inducing weekdays. So don't get rid of them.

Lots of fun! The quiz gal did a great job keeping things lively and interesting. I would have preferred more sense questions. That's what made the experience unique for me and wanting more. And it would be helpful to require any groups of non-game players to be at the back end of the restaurant. We were in the side room and really struggled to hear over the groups talking around us. Thanks for organising these!

Host is nice enough. But not the best quiz questions and recycled from all the other places run quizzes. Been using the same ones for years....

Pretty fun event Only feedback is that because our table was located near the back we could not hear very well and we were caught in the thoroughfare from the theatre, which negatively affected our experience. Perhaps make sure there are enough tables more central to the quiz event

Hi Nicholas and Edward! We came to the quiz last night for the first time and whilst we had fun, I do want to say that the Host did not speak clearly at all. We did not hear the questions properly and therefore managed to get wrong or incomplete answers when we knew the answers! She really must speak clearly..... Also the tiny "forms" need to be revamped. Always great fun, love the quiz master, like the type of questions, only problem is with 7 teams, events upstairs, it gets incredibly noisy, it’s hard to hear and people not involved, get involved. There should be a better system to get theatre goers in to the theatre.

Really fun night and atmosphere but I think more staff are needed as it was difficult to put in drinks and food orders as the few waiters that were there were run off their feet so we waited a really long time to be served. The burger I ordered said it was a "vegan patty" so I ordered it, but then it came smothered in mayonnaise, which is not vegan. Otherwise a fun night!

Great Quizmistress!

The show was quite entertaining, however, the presenters were not that great. Often they were unclear and seemed uncertain of the questions - my party had to ask them to repeat the question several times. The way the questions were asked was also quite disorganized. It is obviously a casual sort of event so I guess it doesn't really matter. Questions were quite challenging and that was fun! A cute touch to give the loser team shots!

Really good fun and vibrant participants, with a clear and very accommodating quizmaster, Wesley, giving ample time for answers. Good range of questions. The OMG part had filled me with trepidation, expecting awful things, as I don't know Jo-Anne well, but I had nothing to fear! She seemed to enjoy the quiz but not much else. I have a bit of a network of people who enjoy quizzes and attend them. I shall be spreading the word. Some attend them with teams at various taverns, Perseverence, Firemans' Arms and so on. I have run a quiz annually as a fundraiser for The Friends of Orchestral Music at the Glen Country Club, hence my insider info. We get 170 participants there and serve about 6 kinds of soup on arrival (always on a winter's evening)

It was a really fun quiz night and I liked the bonus rounds - added something different. The questions were also really well chosen. There were some technical difficulties that could have been smoothed out before the start of the quiz so that it ran more smoothly. We were also really squashed at our table and 2 of us had to share a chair although I had booked for 6 people. This made it quite uncomfortable squished in the corner - perhaps you need to look at how you allocate people and groups to tables and rather err on the side of a few less people.

I'm enjoying the quiz nights very much. Great addition to the AB offering. I would propose that the cocktail special runs till 9pm so that the quiz participants can take more advantage of it.

We have been a number of times now and we really enjoy it

The quiz was fun, but very noisy. We struggled to hear the quizmaster most of the time - presumably due to our location in the little room on the side (and a Very Loud Person at the table next to us). Not sure if much can be done about the acoustics though.

Had never heard of it before but was thrilled to learn of it as we seldom have such great entertainment venues with shows and activities in Cape Town. Shows also look great.
