"Something old, something new" - The Swing Collective is sure to get your toes tapping with their unique blend of swing pop. Come on down to vintage Alexander Bar's intimate theatre on the 16th of January for an hour of pure entertainment as we take you right back to the roaring '20s with a modern twist!  The Swing Collective is a 5-piece swing/pop band new on the Cape Town scene comprising of professional musicians all active in the music industry. The group plays swing classics, as well as pop tunes given an old-school swing twist: mixing together vintage and retro into a sound that is interesting and distinctive. The perfect band for any event or function, The Swing Collective will provide a touch of class and enjoyable toe-tapping swing music reminiscent of the roaring ‘20s.

Audience Responses

The Swing Collective were great, especially the lead singer, who has a wonderful stage presence - lovely voice, personality, sense of humour. The sax was a little "shy" for the genre - good notes, but no "guts". An enjoyable show, though and good to hear their jazzed-up version of some current songs.

Wow! Great band, great venue, pity the aircon did not cope with the heat generated by a sell-out audience.

Loved the band - they were fabulous. Excellent sound too! We just got very hot in the venue - the poor aircon couldn't keep up! We were in the front row though, so the lights probably played a part. We had a great time!

Amazing vocalist- stunning voice and very entertaining. All the players were fantastic and I didn't want it to end. Wouldn't have guessed they hadn't been together as a band for only a short time- very professional.

I did convey to our son, James Lombard (drummer in Swing Collective), that we (the parents) really enjoyed the show, but they could look into greater variation. There was a definitive repetitive pattern of the saxophone following the singing. But we will come again if they play at the Alexander Bar - and bring along some friends!
