Tribal Cafe | Featuring Kathleen Pearlson
Cape Town based Soma Fusion Bellydance Company joins forces with London Tribal Fusion bellydancer, Kathleen Pearlson, in this once off showcase of bellydance. Both with aesthetics rooted in the vintage and timeless, expect a show paying homage to old styles of bellydance with modern concepts, and a tapestry of original group and solo choreographies.
Kathleen Pearlson is an artist and student of Tribal Fusion. She is known for her warmth and beautiful timeless quality as a performer. She blends an aesthetic rooted in vintage with a taste for the organic exploration and an openness to the new. This show will be a culmination of a day of workshops in Tribal Fusion. Soma Fusion Bellydance Company have over the years entertained audiences locally and internationally, most recently at the GloCaf Awards Ceremony in Nigeria and Topstars show at Grand Arena. Marissa, director of Soma, also makes up the dance component of Cape Town based Gypsy band, Ottoman Slap, who won an ovation award at the 2015 NAF in Grahamstown. She, along with Jordan Williams, Yvette Demas and Shahra Sattar, all part of the Soma Performance Troupe, will be showcasing some solo, duet and group pieces in this Tribal Fusion show.
