Emerging playwright Obed Plaatjes writes a riveting drama with deft strokes of humour, sponsored by NATIONAL ARTS COUNCIL. Director Matthew Stuurman carries the vision of the play. A powerful story about how we as a society are stagnating, told through the life of a culturally mixed family.

A riveting family drama immersed in identity, culture, rejection and poverty.

Sophie tries to keep things together in her home by using her traditional religious methods, but it only serves to suffocate her and her family, Jonathan and David. The secret about how her husband died and the rejection she faces from her family in Worcester, slowly but surely start to affect her psychologically as she grows increasingly delusional about the past and present. The secret begins to unravel when Jonathan starts to question his identity whilst suppressing a secret of his own.

Good morning "Vrou van Orde" was well-written and directed, beautifully executed and performances riveting. The pace of the play was excellent, the sound (both that of the actors' voices as well as props and off stage sound effects) was clear and well timed. The story-line is rich with everyday issues, battles and insecurities and feel will resonate with most. "Vrou van Orde" was an introduction to theater for a member of our team, and she is now hooked! We highly recommend the play and would like to congratulate the entire cast and crew for an incredible show!
