I’m a Cape Town boy, born and and bred behind the Boerewors curtain.
And what’s next on the cards for you?
I’ve been out of the theatre world for a very long time, focusing mostly on corporate work. But it is time for me to bring to stage some of my characters and stories.
And the project you’re dreaming of?
There’s a few 😉
How did you get into magic?
As a young lad my parents sent me to speech and drama classes, this is where it all started. When I was in std 5 (grade 7 ) I started toiling with magic. The librarian in charge of us kiddies (at our local library) really looked after me when she saw my interest in magic and started getting books in to help me. My father once he realised that it wasn’t a passing phrase bought me a few props and books. And the rest they say, is history.
Favorite spot in Cape Town (besides Alexander Bar, obviously)?
I’d like to steer slightly out of the CBD, if I may. I stumbled across this gem called “Coffee from Zion – Marley Coffee” in Lower Main Rd, Obs.
Nice and chilled, free wifi, most amazing coffee and they even made me a vegetarian burger with bacon! Need I say more?
What excites you about theatre and magic?
Theatre is magic! there is no difference, we take an audience on an experiential journey. When the audience joins you on your journey, that moment there .. that’s what excites me.
What mistakes have you made and learned the most from?
Not letting go. It is always difficult to let go of anything, especially if it is precious to you. Thankfully I’ve learnt that when one lets go, magical things can happen.
